Indiana Jones and the Great Circle developer MachineGames has reaffirmed that it still intends to return to its roots and wrap up its modern Wolfenstein saga as a trilogy.
The details:
- Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, studio director Jerk Gustafsson stated that the studio had always intended on going back to the series for a third entry, though fans may be waiting a while before hearing more. "Our intention has always been to go back to Wolfenstein,” he said. “We wanted to finish the trilogy. And when we do that, that is something that I don't want to comment on. It can be now, it can be later, but we're not done with it. That's what I can say."
- Gustafsson reflected on the lengthy development cycles of modern AAA games, explaining that if MachineGames continues to release a new project roughly every four years, he personally may only have two or three more titles left in his career. However, he noted that a third Wolfenstein game is among the projects he hopes to be involved in, given that the series was always planned to be a trilogy.
- It has been reported that Wolfenstein 3 is still in the planning stages at MachineGames, with the studio still focused on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The action-adventure title is set to come to Nintendo Switch 2 later this year as part of a major release schedule for Bethesda that will see Fallout 4 and Oblivion Remastered launch on the console.
