Position Overview

The Oracle Apps DBA (Oracle Database Administrator & System Administrator) primarily responsible for administers and manage the company’s financial database (Oracle Database 11g release 11.2.0.4.0 – 64 bit, Application layer E-Business Suite R12.1.3, Discoverer 11.1.1.7.0 Oracle OAM 11.1.1.9.0 and Oracle ID) . This role is also expected to lead by example and provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly and consistently. Candidates should be capable of working on all database and sysadmin aspects of the Oracle E-Business suite, designing and configuring Oracle applications, best practices for the Oracle database, improve query performance, and make sure the Zynga database architecture is optimized. In addition, the DBA will improve database reliability and scalability. We are seeking a professional DBA with the technical skills and knowledge that extends across Application/ Server/ Network/ Storage technologies to administer a large, complex production DB environment and troubleshoot and provide system level guidance/ solutions, along with desire to learn new technologies (SaaS). This opportunity will suit an Oracle DBA who enjoys providing technical guidance and who can play a key role in supporting and driving forward our database developments.

Main Responsibilities

Support and implement Oracle business, legal and financial systems for social game developer. Responsible for Design, develop, implement and maintain our core Oracle applications.

  • Provide day-to-day production support to end-users.
  • Support all aspects of Oracle apps database and external SaaS systems.
  • Maintain our SQL / PLSQL processes.
  • Ensure DB availability.
  • Proactively manage and maintain security standards and controls.
  • Actively seek to optimize and simplify our architecture.
  • Take ownership of performance and capacity monitoring aspects of the DB.
  • Execution of data migration jobs and scripts as required.
  • Support and collaborate with Oracle developers and other DBA’s and OS team members.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans.
  • Create a reliable backup strategy.
  • Ensure database backups are appropriately executed and periodic restorations are exercised to ensure backup quality.
  • Determine and document DB policies, procedures and standards.
  • Performance testing and evaluation to ensure data security, privacy and integrity.
  • Identification of bottle necks and deadlock issues.
  • Ensure SLA's & operational KPI’s are met, working as necessary with internal and external support functions ( managed services team ) when major incidents occur.
  • Good experience in shell scripts development. Maintain integrations between Oracle and third-party applications including SaaS.
  • Actively monitor databases servers and respond to any alerts as required
  • Work with development teams in database design process and make suggestions/recommendations based on data manipulation needs of the application.
  • Works with internal stake holders and application owners on fixing production issues
  • Apply regularly patches and update of database security.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose the problem areas and come up with solutions and/or workarounds.
  • Proactive with strong team, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Setup DR and HA strategy and support & perform routine DR testing.
  • Perform general DBA functions (Install and Upgrade Oracle and Corresponding products, Create Database & Storage Structures, Alter Database Structures as Needed, Set up Database User Accounts, Debug Malfunctioning Programs, Create Database Backups as required using RMAN/ DATAPUMP features, Restore Backups as required using RMAN/ DATAPUMP features).
  • Establish database standards for operations, upgrades, migrations and application-based deployments.
  • Write clear, concise, well organized user documentation to maintain standards and procedures
  • Balance various database infrastructure projects
  • Nice to have; exposure to 12c, cloud technology (Oracle Cloud /OCI)

Desired Skills And Experience

  • Operating system experience in Linux.
  • Oracle management tools (Data Guard, RMAN, Data pump).
  • Partitioning.
  • Architecture design principles.
  • Good problem solver, focused and dedicated developer with ability to work on your own as well as with a team.
  • Hands on experience with DB standards and end user applications-translating capacity requirements into infrastructure deployment technology.
  • Strong practical experience of ORACLE in a production RAC (ASM) environment (11gR2).
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with an organization with a key reliance on 24x7 reliability on its database.
  • Oracle API, SFTP server, SSH Keys generation, Web services APIs, PL/SQL , XML, XSLT integration, Oracle Cloud technologies experience preferred (nice to have)
  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field; Ideally Oracle Certified DB Professional (OCP) with more than 5 years’ experience with Oracle, preferably in a lead role. Experience should include DB design (modelling and normalization), capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, back-up and recovery, managing schemas, report generation and DB clustering technologies.
  • Alternate education and experience requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a DBA focused on Oracle applications in hi-tech industry.
