Job purpose

As the club’s Marketing Assistant, you will be joining a dynamic and growing marketing team focused on driving fanbase growth locally, nationally and internationally.

This is an exciting time for Wolves on and off the pitch, so this is a great time to join. This will be a junior role within the team but don’t let that put you off. On a day-to-day basis you will be exposed to every area of the business, so you need to be a quick and willing learner.

You’ll work very closely with the Head of Marketing and Marketing Manager to create tactical ideas to engage a young fan demographic. This will include leading the execution of matchday marketing both in the lead up-to and managing Wolfies Den on a matchday, managing the day to day marketing of the Wolves museum, executing our eSports programme, researching novel content ideas on ‘youth’ platforms and the day to day co-ordination of the marketing department.

You’ll need exceptional organisation skills as you’ll be making sure that our invoices are passed to accounts on time and scheduling weekly status meetings with the team.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of our eSports programme working with our appointed eSports agency and eSports players
  • Help to create and manage the yearly marketing plan for the Wolves museum
  • Be part of creative sessions, pro-actively bringing new ideas to the table to engage all fans, but particularly a young audience
  • Work side-by-side with the Marketing Manager and Membership Manager to create promotional materials that support the recruitment and retention of Young Wolves members
  • Lead Wolfie’s Den on a matchday. This will include sourcing activities, liaising with suppliers, managing the activity on matchdays and promoting the activity via the club’s digital platforms on a weekly basis
  • Working closely with our design agency, and proof-reading marketing collateral
  • Attend club events to build the Wolves brand both locally and regionally
  • Manage the department administration functions – absence, holiday etc
  • Work with the Insight and Loyalty Manager to ensure that all data is stored securely and/or uploaded to the secure FTP for storage in the data warehouse
  • Achieve the pre-defined KPIs set by the marketing manager

Knowledge:

The level and breadth of knowledge to do the job e.g. understanding of a defined system, method or procedure, legal or regulatory frameworks etc

Essential

  • Degree in marketing or equivalent experience
  • Desire to work within sports marketing

Technical/work-based skills: skills specific to the job e.g. language competence, typing skills, coaching skills etc

Essential

  • Exceptional written and verbal skills – particularly when communicating with supporters in person, over email and over telephone
  • Experience of using Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Desirable

  • Ability to build emails in a HTML format, or experience of using an email template builder
  • General skills and attributes: more general characteristics e.g. flexibility, communication skills, team working etc

Essential

  • Understanding of how to work safely with children and/or vulnerable adults and uphold generally accepted practice when working with those participants.
  • Promote, adhere to and implement the Club’s Equality Policy and to work consistently to embed equality and diversity within Club.
  • Willingness to learn and get involved with tasks that aren’t necessarily described within your job description
  • Confident communicator. Happy to proactively suggest ways to improve our existing offering
  • Good attention to detail

Experience: proven record of experience in a particular field, profession or specialism.

Desirable

  • Working with children and/or vulnerable adults
  • Experience of eSports
  • Developing and Implementing junior marketing campaigns

Qualifications: the level of educational, professional and/or occupational training required

Essential

  • Post-holder must hold or obtain at the earliest opportunity the relevant safeguarding training (i.e. FA Safeguarding Children Workshop)
  • Post-holder will be subject to a DBS check at the appropriate level and cleared by the Wolves Safeguarding Manager
