Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vice President and Director of Athletics, the Head eSports Coach successfully oversees Winthrop's eSports team in a cost-effective manner. Oversees the academic progress of student athletes and adheres to NACE and University eligibility rules and requirements. Maintains knowledge of current and relevant eSports games and strategies necessary to coach student athletes and compete successfully with other collegiate eSports programs. Conducts recruitment activities in accordance with NACE rules and regulations. Coordinates recruitment and scholarship activities with the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and the Vice President for Enrollment Management. Establishes an effective schedule for practices and games. Prepares a budget within established guidelines. Organizes and directs the fund-raising activities for the eSports Program. Organizes and manages summer camps for prospective eSport student athletes. Keeps current on rolling updates and patches as metagame evolves for multiple games. Promotes attendance at eSports events and provides information for students, faculty, staff and the public. Assists the University Marketing and Communication and Athletic Sports Information Office in maintaining information on the web page and coordinates television, print and radio information. Follows relevant federal, state and university policies, practices and procedures.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Bachelor's degree required. Successful recruiting and coaching experience at the high school or college level highly desired. Knowledge of relevant strategies, play patterns and dynamics of competitive play. Metagame knowledge of relevant eSports titles (League of Legends, Overwatch, etc.). Ability to interact with students, parents, admissions staff and the public in a positive way. Must be able to work 35 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications

Current player ranking with relevant eSports titles (League of Legends, Overwatch, etc.) highly preferred.
