Summary of Responsibilities

The Coordinator, WSU Varsity Esports Team is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Campus Recreation. This position is accountable for creating, managing, and developing the WSU Varsity Esports team. This position will manage and oversee all aspects of the Esports program development and operation, including but not limited to: recruiting, retention efforts, team management and operations, budget management, scheduling, fund raising, equipment control and monitoring of the WSU Varsity Esports office and equipment. Additionally, the position will require academic monitoring of students, developing service learning projects, and serving as a point-of-contact for gaming-related questions, majors, and/or other initiatives. This position exemplifies Campus Recreation in the Division of Student Affairs’ core values and represents the university’s commitment to both collaboration and student culture development.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree by hire date

Minimum Experience

  • 1 year of facilitation experience working with students

Position Description Information

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or related field by hire date.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with students and student-athletes.
  • Experience with NACE games and governance procedures.
  • Demonstrated leadership and involvement.
  • Strong understanding of athletic and sport management governance principles.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, networks and experience

Regular Hours of Work Typically M-F 8:00 am-5:00 pm plus occasional evenings and weekends.

Environmental Factors

Repeated motion including keyboard/mouse and other technology related interactions.
Use of computer monitors for extended periods. Event support activities include lifting and carrying with some outdoor work required.
