Job Overview

Wargaming Chicago-Baltimore is looking for a Technical Game Designer for its growing studio with over 150 employees. Our environment is a combination of casual creativity and functional productivity with an emphasis on fun games and solid engineering.

You are the first line of technical "defense" when it comes to implementation. Systems designers, level designers, and artist will rely on your knowledge of the technical aspects of the game to help get their work on the screen.

You will join the development team as a member of the design staff. The development team is charged with creating, improving, and maintaining World of Tanks for consoles, while living up to the demands of the game's dedicated fan-base.

Reports To

The Lead Game Designer.

What will you do?

  • Create, improve, and maintain various features in World of Tanks for consoles across multiple version updates and platforms.
  • Parse gameplay analytics and base design/task implementation on both design ethos and hard data.
  • Become intimate with the feature set of the game and be able to contribute, improve, or maintain said features as required.
  • Be flexible enough to support/cover other design staff responsibilities as required.
  • Be aware of World of Tanks workflow processes and facilitate the streamlining (or automating where appropriate) those processes.
  • Create and own tools/tool features used by other developers to facilitate game iteration.

What are we looking for?

  • Intimate with Python, LUA, and other common scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of Flash (ActionScript is a plus).
  • A proven track record of successful designs/work with design departments in product development.
  • Able to quickly pick up and understand highly technical implementations.
  • Familiarity with component based tools and implementation.
  • A crystal clear verbal/written communicator and positive collaborator, you never need to argue to get your point across to others.
