Wargaming USA is looking for an enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Senior Community Manager for its Austin-based small team of ship- and history-lovers responsible for fostering and developing the communities in the Americas. The Senior Community Manager demonstrates a passion for the gaming industry by implementing great audience management and support strategies, acts as an advocate for product customers, as well as an avatar of the development and publishing teams. You’ll be required to have your finger on the pulse of our players and engage them in discussions on a constant basis across a variety of platforms. You’ll also be a competent organizer and communicator, managing a team of community managers and providing aggregated feedback on players' needs and expectations to internal stakeholders. Success in this role relies on a sound understanding of publishing processes and player behavior patterns, combined with an ability to manage and coach the team in deploying epic messaging that keeps the community informed about our games.

Reports to

Regional Publishing Director.

What you will do?

  • Prepare and implement strategies and activities that will consistently engage and grow the product community; coordinate this with the Publishing teams as well as the Community team.
  • Work closely with Regional Publishing Director on day-to-day maintenance, organization and management of schedule and resources.
  • Lead a team of regional Community Managers, as well as volunteer programs.
  • Define Community action plan based on feedback and reports provided by the Community team.
  • Own, plan, monitor and report on the regional streaming strategy for Twitch and other potential channels.
  • Drive improvements, new initiatives and projects in the community space aimed at increasing player engagement and retention.
  • Coordinate and work closely with regional and global publishing teams to improve workflows and processes aligned with product goals.
  • Be the main regional Community point of contact for internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee all regional Community activities related to the product, as well as have an overview of all product community channels.
  • Provide analytics related to performance of community projects and programs, as well as track the health and behavior of the NA player base in general. Work with analytics team to create analytics reports and collate data from Community Managers, presenting analyses and trends to all departments.
  • Monitor trends in online community tools and applications. Learn from the market and competitors.
  • Be one of the faces and voices of World of Warships and proactively contribute to discussions with player communities across the Official Forums, Twitch, Social Networks, Discord, or any other channel where we need to be.
  • Be responsible for regional communication between Community and key influencers to keep them informed and active.
  • Identify opportunities for, and assist in the execution of tournaments, offline events, and player gatherings.
  • All other duties that may be assigned by the Company and that would enter into the scope of your qualifications.

What are we looking for?

  • Senior Level Community Professional. You have 5+ years of experience developing and actively contributing to online communities. You are well-versed in proven community-management strategies.
  • Publishing Experience: You are familiar with the game publishing industry and its structure and processes. This includes experience with collaborative tools such as JIRA, Asana, or other similar products.
  • Communications Skills. You can effectively communicate in English with diverse audiences in any format and in any medium, while being aware about local context and sensitivities. You are comfortable and effective in multi-cultural environments, and you excel in bridging the language gap with your audience.
  • Management Experience. You have 2-3 years of experience directly managing people. You are well-versed and experienced in implementing people management best-practices, including (but not limited to): Coaching, mentoring, and developing employees; setting clear individual employee and team objectives; fostering a spirit of teamwork and unity among team members; maintaining frequent and transparent communication; development of an employee-centric team culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, employee retention, and high performance.
  • Professionalism. You take pride in maintaining and developing the skills essential to your position and are willing to assume responsibility for tasks large and small necessary to accomplish your goals. You seek to build your coworkers up and to share your knowledge and experience for the betterment of the team.

  • Stoicism. You are capable of remaining calm and thoughtful in fast-paced high-pressure environments and when communicating publicly, sticking to strategy when it remains effective and willing to change it on the fly, if necessary, when it doesn’t.
  • US work authorization. You are able to join the team without going through additional authorization

What additional skills will help you stand out?

  • Product Expertise. You are an active player of World of Warships, always up for a few more battles, can provide game-related feedback, can participate in nuanced game discussions, may be known in community already.
  • Multi-Lingual Skills. You are also able to effectively communicate in Latin American Spanish or Brazilian Portuguese. Bonus points for Russian language knowledge for internal communications.
  • Analytical Skills. You’re able to back up your opinions with hard data and quick statistical analysis, while minimizing the pressure on our BI experts.
  • Entrepreneurship. Experience in the ultimate self-starting pursuit is always a plus.
  • Streamer: You’ve produced and hosted livestream content and are familiar with current livestream tech.
