What We Need

Our Novato studio is looking for an experienced Environment Artist to contribute to the next iteration of the award-winning NBA 2K franchise. In this role, you will be responsible for modeling, texturing, and lighting realistic and visually compelling environments, arenas, and story-based locations. This is a six months contract.

What You Will Do

  • Model, texture and set dress high-quality environments
  • Abide by strict guidelines when dealing with scale, positioning, and UVs
  • Use proprietary software for tasks such as refining the look of materials and set dressing environments
  • Test build and troubleshoot environments to make sure they are error-free before submitting them to the game
  • Proactively seek feedback to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met
  • Collaborate with other artists and departments throughout the production process

Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit

  • 2+ years’ experience as an Environment Artist within the video games industry
  • Extremely proficient in the creation of high-quality, clean, and efficient environment assets
  • Ability to adapt to proprietary software and incorporate it into their workflow
  • Technical enough to check the art within our game
  • Strong application and knowledge of Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter and/or other art creation tools
  • An eye for attractive environments and texture creation
  • Skillful in creating both hard surface and organic assets
  • Knowledge of working with hi-res meshes and baking details onto low-res versions
  • Strong communication skills and a high attention to detail
  • Ability to work with a high degree of self-direction

Nice To Have

  • Experience with working with modular assets
  • Experience with Substance Designer, Perforce, or Shotgun
