To this end, we are seeking an experienced Technical Director who can join our team and help pave the way towards our new goals.

About the position

We are looking for a Technical Director who will set the standard for technical work within the studio and take responsibility for developing the skill set of the programming team. Possessing a robust knowledge of various game technologies, the successful candidate will also be responsible for selecting and promoting appropriate technologies for use within the studio.

You will partner with other TD’s and team leads to push quality and innovation. By being part of the leadership team, you will develop strategies and eliminate obstacles with other leaders across the studio.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight and direction to a team of engineers
  • Identify solutions to difficult engineering challenges for our partners covering a wide range of areas such as low-level programming, rendering, tools, automation, and more
  • Report project risks in a timely manner, propose mitigations and escalate risks when needed
  • Manage communication with partners in terms of project progress and technical matters
  • Undertake technical due diligence for new business opportunities if and when requested
  • Demonstrate good leadership, charisma, enthusiasm, and sense of commitment
  • Establish strong coding standards and practices across the engineering team
  • Identify training needs and potential talent within teams
  • Collaborate with Directors to set, assess and improve internal processes, as well as a studio growth strategy
  • Work closely with other TD’s to share technical knowledge and best practices and help drive a culture of leadership, proactivity, ownership, and accountability
  • Research cutting-edge technologies for application within the games industry

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in the games industry
  • At least 8 years programming experience
  • Recent experience in console development with at least one shipped title
  • Expert knowledge in one or more major functional areas of game development, such as rendering, engine systems, tools and pipelines, and backend
  • Minimum of 3 years working with Unreal Engine or equivalent custom engine
  • Good knowledge of programming languages and software engineering practices
  • Exceptional management and communication skills
