Summary

  1. Assist in the development of an Intramural esports program.
  2. Select games the college will participate in with input from administration, staff and students.
  3. Run leagues, tournaments, and promotional events regarding esports
  4. Create and maintain handbook with guidelines, rules, and policies and procedures for the esports games
  5. Promote the Intramural esports program and events
  6. Assist in the planning and oversight of esports specific tournaments, leagues, and events
  7. Officiate Intramural esports events to the best of your abilities.
  8. Provide a fun and safe environment for participants.
  9. Maintain conduct of other officials and students participating in activities.
  10. Fill out report forms and other required paperwork.
  11. Assist with other events or run events as needed.
  12. Assist the supervisor in preparing the playing area, and checking the equipment needed for the game to make sure it’s in proper condition.
  13. Inspect the playing area, boundaries, equipment, and clarify all ground rules and/or special interpretations/changes made by the intramural office.
  14. Know and enforce rules and regulations according to the Intramural Sports employee manual, participant handbook, and sport rule books.
  15. Officiate the game(s) to the best of your abilities.
  16. Verify the score after the contest and make sure it is recorded correctly.
  17. Inform the supervisor of each team’s sportsmanship rating after each game is completed.
  18. Must attend all staff and sport specific trainings.
  19. Display professionalism at all times.
  20. Be outgoing, friendly and enthusiastic about sports and UVU

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a current UVU student.
  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations of various eSports games and rules
  • Must be willing to work at night and on weekends.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport/game they are assigned to officiate.
  • Effective written and verbal communication is essential
  • Possess patience and provide excellent customer service.
  • Be able to stay on task when alone and working with others.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well with diverse group of people.
  • Able to handle highly emotional individuals or groups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous officiating experience.
  • Knowledge about running successful tournaments and leagues

Physical Requirements

Working outdoors or indoors, depending on the sport. May work in an indoor environment that does not have heat or air conditioning while constantly moving up and down a playing field/court. Some stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching lifting, walking, carrying or moving objects and other movements may be required. This position may require lifting up to 50-100 lbs with assistance.
