Establish NEIT esports teams for collegiate competitions and position NEIT to be a leader in collegiate esports competitions. Manage day-to-day operation of NEIT’s competitive esports program, recruit and retain prospective and current students to participate in NEIT esports.
- Oversee and grow NEIT’s esports program
- Recruit qualified students for NEIT’s Esports games (at least one quarter of the roster each year). Communicate regularly with prospective students via phone, email, text. Attend university-wide open houses, hosts prospective players on-campus for tournaments/skills competitions. Attend off-campus events for recruiting.
- Each collegiate season, establish at least 2 competitive collegiate esports teams and recreational teams. Coach at least 1 team each season.
- Supervise esports team part-time coaches and student workers. Ensure they adhere to NEIT policies and procedures and that they require student compliance with NEIT policies and procedures
- Create procedures for recruiting esports athletes, to include criteria for eligibility, try-outs, and determining team positions.
- Develop a program for effective training of esports athletes that will support student-athlete development and NEIT’s esports program growth.
- Handle travel arrangements for off-campus competitions
- Organize activities and scrimmages to promote the esports program.
- Assist with the creation of marketing materials for esports
- Assist in creating, maintaining, and promoting NEIT esports content through the University’s social media platforms, websites and digital signage on campus
- Collaborate with the Academic Skills Center to identify programming to enhance student athletes’ ability to be successful in their academic programs
- Attend staff meetings with the Student Activities Director and other NEIT employees, as appropriate. • Participate in evening and weekend NEIT events to promote the sports program
Qualifications Standards:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 2+ years with experience in coaching (pro or collegiate) and recruiting talented players for the program.
- 3+ years competitive gaming experience with advanced knowledge in multiple esports titles.
- Experience with social media platforms, proper marketing communication methods and broadcasting.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment, display strong attention to detail, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with a variety of individuals, including faculty, students, staff, and alumni.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of national trends in university esports programs
- Knowledge of NACE, NECC and other collegiate conferences
- Ability to travel as needed
- Available to work a flexible schedule
