The job is about creating alignment on what needs to be done, make ongoing adjustments to deliver on the commitments and communicate proactively to concerned collaborators.

Our principles

The Technical Program Management shares these common principles.

  • We are using influence rather than authority to bring change.

  • We favour pragmatism over idealism.

  • We believe that great software production systems rely on people first, process second.

  • We strive to enable team autonomy rather than them being dependent on us.

  • Collaboration and facilitation is at the heart of our activity, we are shepherds.

Ideal Candidate

As the ideal candidate, you are comfortable wearing multiple hats: connector, coach, reporter, translator, firefighter. You ride the line between Helper and Leader, acting as a force multiplier for the teams you are embedded with, having a light-touch project management style, and a commitment to fostering a culture of individual empowerment, ownership, and trust. Your people skills are impeccable, and you have an understanding of and appreciation for working across different cultures.

What you’ll be doing

  • Act as a collaborative force to help partners and in-house teams work together fluently, embracing divergent priorities, processes, and cultures

  • Use fluency in common software production methodologies and deep empathy for developers to improve the team’s ability to plan and deliver software without hampering progress or autonomy of developers

  • Coordinate with Authoring Tools & Tech team leadership. And facilitate collaboration with other engineering teams to achieve Unity’s larger strategic goals and maintain a high quality standard

  • Circulate regular status updates to collaborators, providing a concise high-level view into the team’s health and progress against goals

  • Internalize and promote Unity’s core values: Users first. Best ideas win. In it together. Go BOLD!

What we’re looking for

  • Extensive experience in software production / project management, working cross functionally within an engineering organization (or equivalent related experience)

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral, to speak to a broad audience, internal and external

  • Ability to gracefully manage change in an organization, working with the current of embedded habits rather than fighting against it

  • Familiarity with authoring technologies and challenges in game/app development

  • Demonstrate proactivity and curiosity. Be willing to ask questions, and be willing to dig for your own answers as well

You might also have

  • Working with distributed teams across time zones

  • Enterprise-scale software development

  • Game development (Unity engine or otherwise)
