The opportunity

Unity is looking for a Senior Software Developer to be part of Release Engineering's (RE) Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) Compliance Team. We partner with developers and leaders to drive strategy and implementation around the use, contribution, and adoption of open source software. If you are someone with a keen interest in optimizing process, unblocking developers, and developing systems that audit for compliance, we would love to hear from you! In this role, you will be making a key contribution by ensuring compliance of released versions of Unity!

This is a full time position, based in our Montreal office.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design and implement systems to support open source compliance, development and community practices
  • Work with the development, legal and management teams to ensure published software meets legal compliance and community acceptance
  • Define tools and techniques to manage Unity's open source community engagement.
  • Champion open source methodologies while balancing trade-offs between compliance, security, and development overhead

What we’re looking for

  • Strong track record of engaging with open source projects as an user and / or contributor
  • Ability to analyze build systems, capture data from multiple sources, and work with a high level of integrity and discretion
  • Experience of software development in a distributed environment / part of a team working on projects with large code bases
  • Experience in accurate and professional communication across global communities (verbal and written) – Proficiency in English

You might also have

  • Knowledge of software (source and binary) scanning tools
  • Familiarity with open source licenses and their terms
  • Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent tasks
