Senior Graphics Software Developer, UI Technologies

Our mission in the UI team is to deliver world-class technologies for Unity’s ecosystem. Virtually every Unity game or application needs a user interface which means your code will be used by millions of customers and run on billions of devices. This role will let you take part of an engineering team to rebuild the UI systems from the ground up and achieve the standards we set for ourselves and our customers.

Your focus will be on the design and implementation of the UI system’s rendering architecture. To support all the visual features offered by the UI system and ensure it operates at minimal performance cost and maximum scalability across all of Unity’s target platforms.

What you’ll be doing

  • Take ownership of the architecture for the new core UI rendering system
  • Implement new rendering techniques to support UI visual features across all shader models supported by Unity
  • Support the operation of the UI system under different display modes, including 2D and 3D world-space modes
  • Collaborate with an international development team

What we're looking for

  • Strong programming skills with a focus on write fast, memory efficient code, preferably with C++/C#
  • Proficient with at least one major graphics API (e.g. D3D, Vulkan, PS4)
  • Comfortable with fundamental graphics programming concepts like 3D math, color spaces, graphics pipeline
  • Experience with multi-threaded programming

You might also have

  • Experience building games with Unity and/or extending the Unity Editor
  • Worked on or implemented a UI system (e.g. DearIMGUI, Qt, WPF)
  • Demonstrated interested in Unity’s Data Oriented Tech Stack (DOTS)
