Undead Labs is looking for a Senior Content Designer to join our State of Decay 3 team. You’ll be bringing your skills to elevate and innovate our franchise's content to expand our player base while also advocating for the fans of our game. Our ideal candidate is comfortable empathetically tailoring their choices to our players while simultaneously working on the most minute details of interdependent systems. You'll work closely with a team of designers, programmers, and artists to craft rich missions and encounters and help grow our fan-base and franchise.

What You'll Do

  • Champion and refine State of Decay 3’s content design in service of current and new audiences
  • Collaborate with other content and narrative designers in determining task priorities and deliverable timelines while establishing best practices
  • Use proprietary tools to implement and tune designs of varied scope
  • Document and communicate your vision to the rest of the team
  • Define and measure effectiveness of content engagement with our analytics team
  • Partner with UX design to consider holistic player experience and accessibility needs while ensuring content is well-understood by our players
  • Foster an inclusive environment, centered on safety, engagement, collaboration, accountability, and community

Core Traits & Experience

  • Deep experience working collaboratively with other disciplines to build missions and encounters, particularly in R&D and/or during pre-production
  • Strong, interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to write clear and effective design documentation
  • Passionate about developing and following high-functioning development processes
  • Ideally brings 8+ years of video game experience, with 5+ years direct mission/encounters work
  • Shipped at least one AAA title, preferably an RPG or open world game, as a content designer

Bonus Traits & Experience

  • Experience implementing content in a third-person, systemic game
  • Deep understanding of the post-apocalyptic survival-fantasy genre
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine (Blueprints)
