Job Description

We are recruiting a VP Portfolio Management for our newly created Ubisoft Brand Portfolio team whose mandate is to drive the strategy of our brand portfolio, located at Ubisoft’s International Headquarters.

This department of over 110 people is located on 6 sites: Paris, Montpellier, Montreal, San Francisco, Shanghai and Malmö.

In this context and reporting to the Chief Portfolio Officer, you will have an explicit mandate to lead the change that influences the business, thus building an ambitious brand portfolio strategy for Ubisoft. This strategy will enable the group to:

  • Maximize market coverage;
  • Strengthen Ubisoft global ecosystem, by positioning and differentiating our brands from each other and from competition;

Your missions will be the following:

Build the Global Strategy of our Portfolio:

  • Take a broad, strategic view of the company’s entire product catalog;
  • On an on-going basis, assess the whole current - and in-dev – brand portfolio, on how our games and brands perform compared to each other and to the competition, and determine how to optimize in the portfolio, and what gaps should be filled (based on viable opportunities for new markets, increased revenue and other business objectives) ;
  • Portfolio assessment to be conducted at several levels: content, tech, biz model, platforms, audiences, market, revenues...;
  • Portfolio assessment to be conducted taking into account the growing market trend of crossing HD X Mobile;
  • Provide axis for portfolio optimization, growth opportunities, blue ocean or expansion opportunities, consistent with the strategic vision and direction of the company;

Define the brand ecosystem and brand architecture:

  • Assess and determine each brand’s contribution and role within the portfolio, each brand’s ability to achieve above-market growth, gain market shares, deliver both financial and development results, determine brand opportunities, risks and risk mitigation strategies;
  • Define the right choices in terms of brand architecture and links between brands of the catalog (mother brands / sub brands / brand partnerships...)

Implement Portfolio management tools:

  • Build portfolio management models, tools, methodologies, processes, inputs/outputs, reports, scorecards, etc.
  • Develop metrics and conduct complex analyses: market growth assessments, blue ocean strategy, BCG matrix...;
  • Understand key macro and micro trends impacting the portfolio (market, societal, tech, content, business models...), including long term disruptors, and determine potential scenarii accordingly;

Ensure efficient partnerships & collaboration within Ubisoft:

  • Partner closely with multiple teams to conduct portfolio and brand ecosystem assessments. The candidate will have to coordinate the efforts of multiple other teams simultaneously involved in different aspects of portfolio analysis, so strong collaborative relationships have to be built;

Create a smooth process and decision making:

  • Set up portfolio management reviews providing recommendations and guidance, in terms of both current portfolio optimization, future portfolio development, brand architecture & brand management;
  • Nurture the CEO’s strategy;
  • Integrate portfolio perspective in the pitch process and the building of mandates

Recruit and build your team dedicated to portfolio management

Qualifications

To succeed in this position, you have developed significant strategic thinking skills in a fast-paced international context through a solid consulting experience (in strategy, marketing or finance), or a solid Project Management and transformation initiatives position in the video games industry.

  • You have developed advanced communication skills and advanced influencing, leadership and thought-partnership skills;
  • You must have solid abilities in terms of analytical skills, project management and advanced collaboration skills to ensure strategic alignment with multiple parties;
  • Fluent in English, you identify and understand industry trends, business, data and financial measures;
  • A solid understanding of the video game industry is a strong asset;
