Job Description

Who we are

Ubisoft Winnipeg is a technology studio with a unique mission: develop new technologies that will change the way we build video game worlds. We are the only Ubisoft studio focused on exploring the unknown to develop technology that empowers game creators—at all Ubisoft Canadian studios—to build even better, more immersive worlds across our major brands such as Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs.

Who you are

When you’re a UI Programmer, you have direct influence over the quality of the game that will end up in the players’ hands. You are entrusted with coding the flow and delivery of key information for the player. With every new iteration, you commit yourself to answering the most fundamental questions: Will it be easy for the player to flow through menus? Does the HUD feel right? Is it AAA quality? You’re an avid gamer who cares about the player experience, you believe in our studio’s core values and want to be part of a collaborative team.

What you’ll do

  • Code new and existing UI systems to meet the intent of the game’s design and flow;
  • Keep them coherent with existing code;
  • Understand existing functions, and suggest and develop improvements;
  • Collaborate with designers and artists on layouts;
  • Resolve UI bugs;
  • Document your work.

What you bring

  • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering;
  • 3 years of experience in C# and optimizing code; experience in Unity an asset
  • Experience in gameplay, UI, and design (menus, HUD);
  • Experience developing on video games;
  • Experience as part of a team that has shipped a video game is an asset;
  • Able to communicate well with all disciplines, and to support and elevate the team in the quality and vision of the game;
  • Familiarity with Scaleform or Adobe Flash is an asset;
  • Creativity and a thirst for innovation.

What to send our way

  • Your CV, highlighting your education, experience, and skills, and anything else (GitHub, examples of projects) you think we might find helpful

A real live person will review your application, in this case Carolina. While we’re doing that, get to know our studio and our team a bit more.
