Operating from a historic city in the heart of Germany, the studio develops games pushing the limits of the genre like the acclaimed Anno 1800 and lends decades of expertise to AAA co-development projects like Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege and the upcoming Beyond Good And Evil 2.

Job Description

This is an internship position for a duration of 6 months.

As a Technical Artist Intern on the Beyond Good & Evil 2 team, your responsibilities will involve collaborating with various teams such as Level Design, Tools Programming, and Tech Art. You will be reporting to either the Technical Art Director or the Lead Level Designer for a specific project, and your primary role will be to act as a bridge between 3D Art, Level Art, and Tech Art.

Your daily tasks will include gaining a comprehensive understanding of the specific conditions and requirements of the studio, title, or assigned task. With this knowledge, you will contribute by developing tools and pipelines, identifying potential production issues, assisting with technical implementations, documenting best practices, sharing your knowledge with team members, and exploring ways to enhance the quality of our AAA titles. Initially, your focus will be on supporting production to ensure timely delivery, but as you gain experience, you will also contribute to refining the tools and giving the studio more control to evolve their games.

What you will do:

  • Be the bridge between 3D Art, Level Art, and Tech.

  • Provide tools and pipelines to artists and level designers.

  • Conduct technical research and find appropriate solutions.

  • Participate in sharing practices with other procedural artists.

  • Provide usable tools for content creators based on their feedback.

  • Develop tools and pipelines for procedural generation.

  • Identify production pitfalls.

  • Document best practices and share knowledge.

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • Have an understanding of procedural tools such as Houdini and Substance.

  • Be proficient in vector algebra.

  • Have experience in one or more artistic areas.

  • Have experience as a tech artist and/or environment artist in video games.

  • Be interested in contributing to a collaborative, transparent, and learning culture within the team and taking an active interest in improving the craft.

  • Not be scared of experimenting.

  • Be motivated to help a broad group of developers.

  • Welcome feedback from level designers.

  • Welcome technical feedback from tech directors.
