Job Description

Summary:

Working alongside the Development Manager and the IT Project manager, as team lead of the development team, you’ll manage a team of talented developers towards the team’s success achieving the direction given and objectives set out. Furthuremore, you’ll be responsible of mentoring and given the tools to your team to ensure your team has the means to achieve their goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand requirements, assist with design and in the selections of tools and techniques used;
  • Ensure solutions are correctly implemented and promote a quality driven approach within the team that abides by Ubisoft’s standards and industry best practices, when possible propose and reinforce enhancements;
  • Act as main interface between team and various partners to help achieve project goals;
  • Provide senior solutions to issues or requests on which team needs help;
  • Take on development or project management tasks as needed;
  • Encourage the use of proper channels to streamline knowledge and skills within the team;
  • Build and approve project estimations plans as well as set priorities alongside management;
  • Work alongside management to identify staffing needs and actively participate in recruitment;
  • Identify evolution, development and career path opportunities for each team members;
  • Provide technical and functional guidance to team members;
  • Create an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort;

Qualifications

Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or any other related field.

Relevant Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Developer;
  • 1 year experience as Team Lead;
  • Strong experience with applications design and development practices;
  • Strong experience with PHP stack, services/micro-services oriented architecture, cloud architectures and front-end development.

Knowledge:

  • Significant knowledge of complex database concepts and ensures project teams are effectively employing appropriate database design techniques;
  • Knowledge of micro-services/services oriented architecture;
  • Knowledge on cloud technologies (preferable AWS);
  • Knowledge on Front-End application development with React, Vue.js or Angular;
  • Knowledge of DevOps principles;
  • Knowledge of Agile practices;
  • Excellent knowledge of English and French.

Skills:

  • Creative, curious and innovative; suggest system improvements and offer alternative solutions to the different problems that may appear;
  • Lead by setting a good example (role model) - behaviour consistent with words;
  • Good team player, able to enter relationships based on openness, mutual respect and positive energy;
  • Foster a “do the right thing attitude” and take initiative beyond job specificities to have the projects/task advance;
  • Responsible and accountable for his/her actions;
  • Able to multitask and perform on strict deadlines.
