Job Description

YOUR DAILY ADVENTURE

The Senior Technical Artist will oversee the quality and technical content. She/He must optimize team productivity through the technical process (pipeline) in order to maximize the player’s experience. This is achieved by adequately identifying the project’s needs, implementing efficient work tools and methods to maximize data integration in the engine and providing technical support to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the needs of the artists to build tools, pipelines, etc. to realize the art direction of the game
  • Represent the Character team and art team with needs and requirements to engineers implementing systems
  • Help the artist realize the best quality while respecting the technical limitations and constraints
  • Collaborate with the other TAs to develop and push a roadmap/vision along with rendering/tools.
  • Test tools before deployment and make sure they function correctly throughout production.
  • Anticipating and detecting potential issues or negative interactions between systems and workflows.
  • Produce and maintain documentation using Confluence on tools, methods, trainings, processes, and engine limits for consultation and future reference.
  • Help guide and build pipelines for art creation based on best practices, take ownership of important or risky modifications to the pipeline.
  • Collaborate with your lead to plan and coordinate art production pipeline.

  • Foster inter-team coordination. Help coordinate communication between Artist/TA/rendering groups and achieve consensus for the requirements necessary to ship a high-quality title.
  • Establish an open communication canal with your peers on the project, particularly with other TAs, but also with artists, and leads.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Vast experience as Technical Artist, preferably in games
  • Vast experience in shader creation and optimization
  • Strong understanding of rendering budgets and other technical issues related to performance in real-time engines
  • Deep knowledge of game engines
  • Advanced 3DS Max and Maya technical abilities (rigging, tools, shading)
  • Advanced knowledge of high poly 3D pipelines for high res images and animation
  • Experience collaborating with graphic programmers and mentoring artists
  • Relevant experience working on AAA titles, current and next-gen consoles
  • Experience with current profiling tools and optimization techniques
  • Good organizational/communication skills
