Job Description

Position Overview

Join our team as a Senior Quest Designer and work alongside a dynamic group of individuals dedicated to creating world-class gameplay experiences for our extensive game portfolio. As a Quest Designer, you will be crucial in crafting captivating and unforgettable quests that highlight the game's features and encourage player engagement within our vast game worlds. You will work closely with professionals from various disciplines, ensuring a highly collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualise and implement engaging AAA quality quests and narrative in-engine that align with the game's vision, mechanics, and player experience.

  • Work closely with the Narrative and Quest Lead and Directors.

  • Collaborate with other disciplines, such as level design, narrative, gameplay, audio, animation, and many more, to ensure quests are integrated seamlessly into the game world and provide a cohesive and immersive experience.

  • Contribute to developing and maintaining design documentation, including quest briefs, design guidelines, and best practices.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in quest design, and actively share knowledge, insights, and innovative ideas with the team.

  • Iterate and refine quest designs based on playtesting, feedback, and data analysis to ensure a high level of quality and player satisfaction.

  • Take the initiative to identify and solve design problems, ensuring quests are technically feasible and meet the project's quality standards.

  • Mentor and guide junior quest designers, fostering their professional growth and helping them develop their skills and expertise.

Qualifications

You have a passion for video games and interactive storytelling. You excel in a collaborative environment where novel ideas are valued, and you've previously demonstrated your resilience working under pressure and meeting key production deadlines.

Besides the above, we're also looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:

  • Proven professional experience with Quest/Narrative Design, ideally from AAA game production for AAA open-world or shared-world multiplayer games with a live service element (best to have a portfolio to share).

  • Deep understanding of game design principles, player psychology, linear and non-linear narrative structures, and the ability to push the boundaries of quest design to create memorable experiences.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse and address complex design challenges while balancing creative vision with technical constraints.

  • Proficiency Experience with Game Engines (i.e., Snowdrop, Unity or Unreal) and/or scripting language systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, present ideas clearly and concisely, and articulate design decisions.
