Job Description

Ubisoft's pioneering studio, Paris studio was responsible for the publisher's first successes following its creation in 1992. Today, it is at the helm of such must-have licenses as Just Dance, Ghost Recon and Mario + The Rabbids. Ubisoft Paris has also built a solid reputation as a partner of choice in cross-studio collaborations such as Watch Dogs, Skull & Bones, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Star Wars. Building on this experience, the studio continues to push the boundaries of creativity by working on some very promising yet unannounced projects.

Reporting to the Lead Level Designer of Beyond Good & Evil 2's "planet" mandate, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to produce content for our spatial open-world.

In this context, you will independently carry out the following missions:

  • Design planets and their regions in collaboration with the different job families and studios involved in co-development:

    • Paper design,

    • Prototyping,

    • Presentation to Paris leads and codev studios,

    • Production of documentation.

  • Contribute to the development of the team's skills. You will bring them your knowledge of the job and the industry.

  • Know and anticipate technical solutions adapted to the constraints of the game engine and tools to support design. You'll also be a driving force behind the tools used to develop the game; you'll always have your hands in the editor.

  • Actively participate in improving the workflow and pipeline for planet creation.

  • Calibrate the procedural generation of our environments, then correct the results in line with design intentions.

  • Help improve the exploration loop within our planets.

  • Suggest new ideas for game bricks to support exploration of our planets, as well as points of improvement for existing ones.

  • Create various exploration situations aligned with the planets' design and narrative direction.

Qualifications

  • You have already shipped at least two games, ideally including an open world game.

  • You are familiar with terraforming and procedural content and environment generation.

  • You are known for your good communication skills, especially with tech professions.

  • The project language is English; you will need to be fluent in both written and spoken English.

  • You have experience of, or at least a keen interest in, world building and environmental storytelling.

  • You're a proactive person who doesn't hesitate to tackle problems head-on or come up with new ideas.

  • You have a keen interest in science fiction and astronomy.

This position is available as soon as possible in Montreuil and requires several days a week at the studio. Joining us means having access from day one to :
