Job Description
As a Senior Game Designer, you will join the team responsible for several gameplay features on unannounced AAA title and continue their mission to develop exciting, challenging, and forward-thinking features.
You will be a role model to more junior team members while leading an iterative, hands-on development process, bringing gameplay features from concept to fully playable. Throughout production, you will shift your focus from the big picture to the low-level details, tackling obstacles in development and stepping back to asses how all the pieces connect and affect each other. You will tweak and tune until you achieve a polished and engaging player experience.
What you´ll do
- Design features aligned with the creative and game directions (3C, game ingredients, game systems, game modes, enemy designs, AI behaviours, etc.).
- Standardize, document and communicate features and systems to the features team as well as to the rest of the production team.
- Provides leadership and oversees more junior team members to ensure they follow the guidelines defined by the Lead Game Designer.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate your assigned features.
- Develop in-engine prototypes and evaluate their performance.
- Adapt to technical and production constraints, reworking your design when and as often as needed.
- Participate in finding solutions to fix buggy features.
- Create and maintain design documentation that will guide interdependent teams.
- Follow up on features post-launch to improve, add, or remove components (in certain cases).
- Stay up to date on best practices to keep up with the industry & develop your skills and refresh your knowledge.
Qualifications
What you´ll bring
- At least 4-5 years of professional experience as a Game Designer – preferably on AAA console titles.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Critical thinking, curiosity, resourcefulness, and plenty of flexibility.
- Ability to sift through data and come to meaningful conclusions.
- Relevant experience with scripting and programming languages a plus.
