The Settlers Online is a well established F2P browser game with a large fan base. The architect of your own city, you are also it's protector - defeating bandit camps and completing missions to unlock more features. As our new Senior Game Designer (f/m/d) at Ubisoft Düsseldorf, you will add content to the game, create and improve game features. Providing game mechanics that are fun is your highest priority. To achieve this goal, you will be working closely with colleagues from multiple disciplines.
What you will do:
Work as a part of the Game Design team to design, iterate and balance features and mechanics of the game
Create and maintain the detailed design specification of features and support the development team accordingly in the implementation process
Prototype and implement the designs in game while defining the quality metrics to assess their quality
Facilitate communication between colleagues from various disciplines to ensure that the quality and implementation match the intended direction / vision
Plan and execute the design and implementation of new game features and content together with other game designers and programmers
Manage, balance, and update the games economy and shop content
Work with existing game content tools and pipelines to regularly add content to the game and update existing
Iterate designs to continuously improve the game’s quality
Work closely with the team to ensure that the design specifications meet the quality expectations of the project
Evaluate player feedback and KPIs and improve features based on the analysis
What you bring:
Ideally ~5 years of experience with game design of F2P or F2P browser games or other relevant experience
Strong knowledge of all game design disciplines like system design, game economies etc.
Understanding of psychological mechanisms that keep players engaged
A sense of what makes gameplay experience compelling and fun
Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Intense creativity, a passion to innovate, and the drive to go beyond what is directly asked of you
Experience in working with XML files, Photoshop, level editors, flowcharts, MS Office Confluence
Experience in Unity
Self-motivated and fast learning
Ability to learn and master new tools and techniques
Strong verbal and written English skills
Experience or specialization in narrative design is a plus Experience or specialization in F2P monetization is a plus
