You will be working with a team of dedicated developers focused on Tom Clancy’s XDefiant. A new free-to-play FPS blending fast-paced 6-v-6 arena combat with faction-based abilities in a technicolor realm of chaos. Players will be able to select and form teams from a variety of characters from across the Tom Clancy universe – creating their dream team to take on opponents in a dynamic map environments for high-octane gameplay. XDefiant will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles, PlayStation®5 and PlayStation®4, as well as on Stadia, Luna and Ubisoft Connect, with full crossplay expected at launch. Job Description

Ubisoft Entertainment, a global leader in the video games and entertainment software industry, is currently seeking a full-time Senior Core Engineer. We are looking for a highly talented, motivated and experienced person for a new multiplatform AAA project based in our Sydney Studio.

You would be working to design, create, and extend the underlying general and platform-specific systems which bring our games to life. Your work would enable the gameplay developers and our target platforms to shine. You will work on a small collaboration-oriented team where you will have the opportunity to contribute in meaningful ways.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Implement system-level and gameplay-supporting systems
  • Optimize game code and systems
  • Mentor less experienced engineers
  • Collaborate with technology director/architect on technical design and feature roll out
  • Work with game teams and other engineers to identify systems in need of maintenance, optimization, or refactoring
  • Coordinate with other developers to ensure smooth roll out of new features
  • Review the work of other engineers and provide mentorship
  • Create and maintain technical design documents

Qualifications

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Senior level of programming experience
  • Shipped at least 4 games as core engineer or equivalent for Consoles and PCs
  • C/C++, with multi-threaded programming techniques
  • Understanding of low-level optimizations and core subsystems, memory management, cross-platform development
  • Ability to be self-directed, focused, and detail-oriented.
  • Experience with technical requirement certification (Sony, Microsoft, etc.)
  • Experience on the new generation of consoles
  • Understanding of streaming file systems
  • Experience in networked gameplay
  • High level graphics knowledge using Direct3D or OpenGL
