Job Description

Ubisoft Milan is looking for a Lighting Artist who, closely collaborating with the Cinematic Supervisor and the Art Director, will be responsible for the creation of the lighting setup for the project and ensure that the work is in line with technical and artistic constraints.

The position is based in Milan (Italy) and requires working onsite.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Cinematic Supervisor and the Art Director to establish the lighting and look development of the game;
  • Produce high quality lighting and shadowing effects through any stage of the production process in respect of the project’s technical and artistic constraints;
  • Optimize work and maintain balance between quality and performance;
  • Define workflows and create visual benchmarks;
  • Communicate with the other tradespeople (animators, level artists, level designer, etc.) in order to ensure that their needs are taken into account.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Proficient in basics of 3D lighting & theory;
  • Experience in the gaming industry or any related industry;
  • Very good expertise of lighting and atmospheric effects;
  • Good knowledge of a 3D software (Maya, 3DS Max);
  • Strong art fundamentals such as composition, color theory and grading.

As a plus:

  • Experience with game engines
  • Good knowledge of real-time shaders
