JOB DESCRIPTION

Working closely with Art Director, PM, and 3D Modelling team, participates in the moodboard and concept benchmark design, by following the project artistic style and technical restrictions. Lead, mobilise and develop concept art team within a collaborative multidiscipline environment. Define and track the schedule for the team, manage and mentor team members, and be a key player in the artistic style of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Create art moodboard and benchmark design in collaboration with the Art Director, setting the vision and direction.
  • Leading, and developing an internal team of concept art, providing constructive art feedback, training, and coaching on outsourcing concept art team.
  • Prioritizing, managing, and planning the concept team’s day-to-day tasks in conjunction with the PM.
  • Be responsible for final concept design delivery, quality control in accordance with the project's artistic direction, technical restrictions, and the deadlines.
  • Create a working environment friendly and constructively for cross-team collaboration, ensuring a productive internal workflow and beneficial relationships with internal/external partners, and Co-Dev studios.
  • Rapidly pivot with changes in production, timely report to PM/Producer on the progress of work and any issues relating to the project.
  • In collaboration with the PM/Producer, evaluate staffing requirements and be involved in the artists’ recruitment process.
  • Manage individual team member’s performance and progress, create the environment for initiatives and ideas to emerge and grow.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong working knowledge of Photoshop, ability to create environment, character, and prop concept art to AAA standard.
  • Solid foundation of art fundamentals regarding colour, form, light.
  • Good understanding of 3D art pipelines, and technical constraints related to different game engines.
  • Strong leadership, team, and people management skills.
  • Strong communication (English) and collaboration skills.

Relevant Experience

  • 5-7 years’ minimum experience in Art or any other relevant experience, including successful experience in a lead or director role
  • Shipped at least 2 games as concept artists.
  • Rich experience for mobile game development will be a plus.
