Job Description
As an Intermediate Game Designer, you will be responsible for developing game systems, controls, and interfaces (as well as other interactive elements of your project), in order to bring the vision of the Lead Designer/Creative Director into a playable experience!
Key Responsibilities
- Share ownership over the design of player-character core mechanics, controls, and camera dynamics, as well as the planning for how they should be implemented in game.
- Work closely alongside, Programming, Animation, and Modeling teams to drive development towards the vision of the Lead Designer.
- Create game systems and level content that answers the needs of the Producer, especially in regards to the targeted user experience.
- Document and communicate the systems of the project to the broader production team, and regularly update documentation to offer a useful reference.
- Actively participate in the creation of prototypes in order to adjust and validate systems prior to starting production. Assess the success of prototypes by measuring how objectives are met, using relevant quantitative and qualitative techniques.
- Adjust game systems to allow the player to elaborate on valid strategies which align with the desired experience sought by the Lead Designer.
- Develop control schemes that are both comfortable and intuitive by applying the relevant ergonomic principles (accessibility and usability).
- Participate in the development of tools required to implement and adjust game systems with collaboration alongside the Programming Team.
- Perform other tasks, as required.
Qualifications
- Shipped at least 1 title (ideally on mobile).
- A minimum of 2-3 years' experience working within the Game Industry.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to focus on priorities, solve problems, juggle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with different audiences across a broad range of topics, e.g. technical, business and creative, (both verbally and written).
- Experience working within a cross-discipline collaboration.
- Genuine interest and passion for games, especially F2P mobile gaming!
Bonus Experience
- A College Diploma or Degree in Game Design, Game Production, or any other applicable work experience.
- Experience working with HyperCasual and/or Idle Games.
- Experience working within Live-Ops game development.
- Any 'hands- on' experience working within Unity!
