Job Description

At Ubisoft Montreal’s User Research Lab, we contribute to creating the best gaming experiences by putting players at the centre of the design process.

Working hand in hand with production teams, we leverage in-depth player insights to guide their decision-making, combining state-of-the-art qualitative and quantitative research through a wide variety of methodologies and data sources to do so.

As a Data Science Team Lead within the Lab, you’ll oversee and guide a dedicated team of data scientists.

Together, you’ll support a variety of production teams and other studio partners in transforming their data-related questions into actionable quantitative insights.

What you’ll do

  • Create, prioritize, assign, and follow up on your team's tasks and the advancement of their work based on defined deliverables and KPIs.
  • Act as a representative of your team and ensure collaboration and coordination with various partners.
  • Develop and enhance the use of data.
  • Contribute to evolving game analytics methodologies + improve and optimize workflows and methods (needs gathering, analysis tools, data quality, sampling, vocabulary, etc.).
  • Keep internal partners and your manager up to date on progress.
  • Work closely with other team leaders to share resources, discuss measures to achieve goals, identify and overcome blockers, etc.
  • Provide mentorship to your team members + carry out their annual evaluations, in collaboration with your manager.
  • Participate in recruitment to build your team of data scientists + foster their professional growth and career progression.

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Around 3 years of experience in data science (or other relevant experience) *
  • Solid knowledge of:
    • R, Python, and SQL
    • machine learning techniques and algorithms
    • statistics and their application
  • A degree in a quantitative or related field (e.g. statistics, applied mathematics, business intelligence, etc.) or equivalent training
  • Familiarity with the video game development cycle (experience in the industry, a plus)
  • A collaborative and solution-oriented spirit + an agile and adaptive mindset
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to communicate and delegate with diplomacy and tact
  • Mentorship: you’re motivated to share your knowledge and techniques to develop the next generation of data scientists.
  • Experience managing a team, an asset
