Job Description

As a Character Artist, you will be responsible for modeling the characters required in the production of a game, taking care of their quality according to the Artistic Direction.

The main and routine tasks of the Character Artist are to:

  • Produce models and character respecting the 2D concept

  • Provide proxy models for game integration, create HD model in 3DS Max and texture to apply and give color to characters and generating normal maps to create texture

  • Create efficient and friendly low polygon models for the game integration

  • Export models and textures into engine and make sure they work correctly

  • Touch-up textures after engine integration to optimize quality;

  • Clean up scanned data

  • Create from time to time props and hard surface assets

  • Work closely with the Technical Director, concept artists, Artistic Director to learn and master the production constraints, art guideline and timeline

Qualifications

You have at list one or several experience in a similar position in the game industry and you also recognize yourself in the following skills list:

  • College diploma in game-oriented 3D modeling (2D is a plus) and you can provide a portfolio showing your professional and personal work in modeling realistic and stylized characters for AAA games.

  • You have excellent knowledge on low poly modeling, real time oriented

  • You master Zbrush / Marvelous Designer / Substance Painter / Photoshop and a 3D creation software (3DSMax, Maya, Modo…). You are porefficient in Marvellous Designer.

  • You are organized, autonomous, problem solver and you can adapt to any situation

  • You are versatile both on technical and artistical topics

  • You are a team player and appreciate constructive feedbacks.

  • Fluent or proficient in English

  • Knowledge of and interest in the video game market and industry.
