About the Role

Twitch's Mobile Games team builds features and products for mobile first users in emerging markets.

On this team, you'll be part of a passionate and customer-obsessed cross functional team working to improve the Twitch experience for users in emerging markets, worldwide. The team is looking to improve both the creator and viewer side for mobile first users as well as drive growth creating new delightful experiences for these users in emerging markets.

As an Android Engineer at Twitch, you will contribute to a rapidly-evolving native app that is a portal to the Twitch community of millions of users. You will also build scalable services that power these new experiences and work with other Twitch teams to enhance existing services to better serve mobile first users in emerging markets. You will report to the Engineering Manager for Mobile Gaming.

You Will:

  • Understand dynamic and challenging requirements for viewers and creators in emerging Twitch markets
  • Develop and deploy new product features in our Android application as well as our micro service layer
  • Collaborate with fellow backend, frontend, and mobile engineers to deliver features for our mobile application as well as improve engineering processes and tools to increase team effectiveness
  • Work across both technical and business-focused teams to deliver value to our creators and viewers
  • Become familiar with the existing Twitch technology stack
  • You'll identify and uphold engineering best practices

You Have:

  • 3+ years of software development experience building mobile applications on Android
  • 1+ years of experience building backend services for full-stack web or mobile applications
  • Proficiency with Kotlin, Java, Golang, or C++ development ecosystems
  • Experience working in a service-oriented or microservice architecture
  • Experience working with AWS or similar cloud platform services

Bonus Points

  • A startup mindset
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or relevant field
  • Experience developing live streaming or real-time video applications
  • Experience working with GraphQL APIs
  • Experience building AWS services using Go
  • Fluent in Portuguese or Spanish
