About the Role

Twitch’s Mobile Engineering team develops viewing applications for the Android platform, supporting phone, tablet and set-top devices. These platforms represent an ever-growing share of Twitch viewership and providing functional and delightful experiences on them is essential to user engagement. As a Senior Android Software Engineer at Twitch, you will contribute to a rapidly-evolving, native app that is a portal to the Twitch community for millions of users.

This Android role will support our Mobile Games Strike Team. On this team, you’ll be part of a passionate and customer-obsessed team working to improve the Twitch experience for users in emerging markets, worldwide. You will report to our Director of Engineering for Consumer Products.

You Will:

  • Develop new product features for our Android application
  • Improve engineering processes to increase team effectiveness
  • Work across both technical and business-focused teams to provide value to our creators
  • Understand dynamic and challenging requirements for viewers and creators in emerging Twitch markets

You Have:

  • 5+ years of application development experience on Android
  • 1+ year of experience building fullstack web applications
  • Proficiency with Java, Kotlin, and the Android development ecosystem
  • Experience with full stack application development

Bonus Points

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or relevant field
  • Experience with mobile video playback, video compression, or streaming technologies
  • Familiarity or experience working with GraphQL APIs
  • Familiarity with web technologies and languages (HTTP, REST, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript)
  • Database experience; Dynamo or Postgres preferred
  • Experience with AWS or similar cloud services
