About The Role

The Esports department in Twitch produces some of the most exciting content and broadcast innovations in the industry. We’re looking for an Engineering Tech Lead to help us create the future of broadcast productions. The Esports SDE role will help shape new, cutting edge broadcast solutions for first and 3rd party production partners. You will oversee product engineering road-maps across an agile global engineering team, manage feature development plans, backend engineering and database design. The ideal candidate has experience designing streamlined databases, managing engineering task breakdowns, and leading code review. You Will

  • Manage product and systems engineering design and effort planning
  • Architect and develop multiple local and online database high performance solutions
  • Organize product architecture road-map and service interoperability
  • Lead sprint planning and code review
  • Be a conduit between global development team and local engineering resource

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent industry experience as a Software Engineer
  • 5+ years of experience with Linux database design and implementation, across local and cloud-based environments.
  • You have shipped multiple products and have experience with full software development life cycles
  • 2+ years leading data structure design or product development in a team environment. Familiarity with scalability, concurrency, API design, data modeling, and distributed systems fundamentals
  • Sound technical judgment and a bias for action

Bonus Points

  • 1+ years of experience with video broadcast production equipment
  • In-depth knowledge of video encode / decode toolkits, libraries, and methodologies
  • You are familiar with live streaming and engaging viewer experiences
  • Comfort with rapid customer use and feedback cycles while maintaining dev/test/prod integrity
