About the Position

The Esports department in Twitch produces some of the most exciting content and broadcast innovations in the industry. We’re looking for a Software Development Engineer to help us create the future of broadcast productions. The Esports SDE role will help shape new, cutting edge broadcast solutions for first and 3rd party production partners. You will contribute to product engineering in an agile global engineering team as well as contribute to backend code and database design. Responsibilities

  • Develop multiple local and online database high performance solutions
  • Scale and improve product architecture and service interoperability
  • Improve engineering processes to increase team effectiveness
  • Work across global development teams and local engineering resources to provide value to our production partners

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent industry experience as a Software Engineer
  • 3+ years experience with Linux database design and implementation, across local and cloud-based environments.
  • You have shipped multiple products and have experience with full software development life cycles
  • 2+ years experience with data structure design or product development in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with scalability, concurrency, API design, data modeling, and distributed systems fundamentals
  • Sound technical judgment and a bias for action

Bonus Points

  • 1+ years of experience with video broadcast production equipment
  • In-depth knowledge of video encode / decode toolkits, libraries, and methodologies
  • You are familiar with livestreaming and engaging viewer experiences
  • Comfort with rapid customer use and feedback cycles while maintaining dev/test/prod integrity
