About the Role

The Twitch Global Infrastructure (GI) Team at Twitch is looking for a data scientist for Infrastructure capacity management. You will be a significant and largely autonomous contributor. You can use a range of data science methodologies to conduct analysis for cases when the solution approach is unclear.

You apply a variety of experience from practical application of data science techniques and tools to solve difficult problems.

You have expertise in a range of data science methodologies. You combine this knowledge with an understanding of infrastructure and capacity management, incorporating expertise from engineers and other experts to create pragmatic solutions. You design scalable and reliable approaches to extract the best information possible from the data.

You guide business capability, technology and process owners to develop meaningful metrics that reflect their area of ownership.

You Will:

  • You will work with infrastructure and operations leadership and software development managers to source relevant data
  • Aggregate data from multiple sources centrally for transformation and analysis
  • Manage the systems for aggregating and analyzing data
  • Apply advanced statistical methods to large complex data sets and model the impact of business growth scenarios on infrastructure capacity needs
  • Model and forecast to predict capacity bottlenecks and limitations in sufficient time to seed the infrastructure procurement processes
  • Present to management both utilization and workload analysis along with trends and predictions for growth needs
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis on the impact of different business scenarios on infrastructure utilization
  • Work with product and technology managers to model the impact of product roll outs and technology changes on infrastructure needs.
  • Provide guidance to team members and management on principles of analysis and data-driven decision-making

You Have:

  • Computer science or other quantitative degree (Masters degree in relevant discipline strongly preferred)
  • 3+ years analyzing and interpreting data
  • Experience in data analysis and statistical modeling.
  • Experience with data modeling systems, migration, transformation and structuring of data
  • Experience with infrastructure (Network, Compute, Storage) capacity/utilization reporting and forecasting
