Seeking a highly motivated and talented Technical Artist capable of filling a wide variety of roles related to technical art. The ideal candidate will have an extensive knowledge of Unreal, Maya, and other game art-related software, with a team-oriented collaborative approach to development, and is interested in doing what it takes to make the best games possible.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and support complex animation rigs for characters, vehicles, and props.
  • Help create, maintain, and refine art and animation pipelines with the goal of simplification, efficiency, and automation.
  • Support our Art and Animation teams with scripts and tools that simplify or expedite production.
  • Collaborate with the Art, Design and Programming teams to develop and communicate technical specifications and performance guidelines.
  • Assist with creation of visual FX, advanced materials, and lighting as needed.
  • Work closely with Art Directors to ensure the highest quality assets are delivered.

Skillset & Requirements

  • 6+ years of direct studio game industry experience as a Technical Artist with published console/PC game titles.
  • Experience with common scripting languages like C#, Mel or Python.
  • Ability to create high-quality visuals within performance requirements.
  • Solid understanding of current and next-gen art pipelines and techniques in game development.
  • Familiarity with visual FX, lighting, materials, and post effects.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle large workloads efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proactive about making things happen, always seeking a better solution, and a drive to continue expanding knowledge as a technical artist.
  • Desire to make awesome games.

Pluses

  • Familiarity with motion capture technology and pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cutting edge modeling, sculpting and animation techniques.
  • Familiarity with art creation software such as Zbrush, Substance Painter/Designer and Photoshop.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C++, XML and Lua.
  • A proven track record of high quality shipped game titles as a Technical Artist

This position is located in Austin, Texas. Relocation assistance is available.
