Summary:

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Turtle Beach Taiwan, you use your creativity and diverse range of engineering experience to explore solutions for the next generation of gaming HID devices. You take the lead to drive JDM/ODM in design and problem-solving.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with product marketing, industrial designers, and JDM/ODM’s to create high-volume consumer gaming HID products from concept to launch.
  • Prepare early design layouts, drive product architecture, and come out with preliminary BOM with cost.
  • Do the design, testing, validation of prototypes in the concept stage.
  • Good ability to optimize product design for cost, performance, and quality.
  • Help define test procedures, control plans, and process sheets for production with JDM/ODM’s.
  • Lead debugging and problem-solving in product development.
  • Manage and lead DFM, parts specification, design review organization, Risk analysis tools (FMEA), tolerance analysis with internal/external x-functional teams.
  • Validate and approve Pre-production and Mass-Production build Quality and design intent
  • Release of documentation into the document control system.
  • Research new materials, processes, and aggressive technologies to meet product goals.
  • Manage all aspects of mechanical design from cradle to grave.

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years experience in Mechanical Engineering (ME) Product Development for high volume consumer products, Gaming Mice & Keyboard is much preferred.
  • 3D CAD experience in Creo (Pro Engineer) is a requirement.
  • Solid Design/Manufacturing Experience and Knowledge in key ME materials/processes including Plastic Injection molding, CNC Machining, Stamping, Material Finishing processes.
  • Detail design process including capturing design intent, design reviews, design simulation/analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Knowledge and ability to define, design, and assist in the set-up of complex design validation and reliability test requirements and fixtures.
  • Understanding of Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Experience with foreign (Asia) design and manufacturing partners in both a JDM and ODM capacity.
  • Basic knowledge of prototyping processes
  • Optical Design experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, strong use of communication tools, i.e. email, spreadsheets, issue list, etc.
  • Fluent in English is required
