We are currently seeking a Finance Director to join our growing team based in London, UK. The role reports directly into and works very closely with the CEO and gets involved in all financial and operational areas of the company.

Trailmix is at a super exciting point in its development, arguably the most significant for a gaming startup, and we need an experienced and passionate Financial Director to drive various exciting initiatives.

Internally, you’ll ensure that the day to day operations run smoothly and spearhead our entry into new markets. You’ll work closely with UA and BI teams to manage multi-million dollar marketing budgets and to ensure that we deploy our capital wisely. Externally you’ll help us negotiate potential commercial deals, and liaise with some of the highest profile investors in gaming.

This role suits someone who can drive value at every level - from strategic decisions to hands-on day to day work of running a company.

Accounting Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for all day to day financial transactions, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Payroll.
  • Preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements and management accounts
  • Review and distribute to management COGS and Dept. Operating expenses
  • Prepare financial section of Board of Director presentation
  • Prepare reports for required 3rd party reporting
  • Prepare UK and other tax returns, work with advisors
  • Own VGTR and other R&D credits process, reporting, and accounting
  • Own and manage employee options process, reporting, and accounting
  • Development and implementation accounting policies and procedures, including internal controls

Finance Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Leadership to develop a budget/forecast process, including: detail revenue computations, employee hiring plans, capital expenditures, cash burn, marketing budgets and planning
  • Develop and maintain financial models, keeping updated for all hiring, direct costs and other elements that are included in the financial forecast
  • Review updated forecasts with the founders each month
  • Various financial analysis include key performance indicators on a by game basis, productivity, gross margin, and contribution
  • Review and plan for game launches including cash and marketing allocations
  • Own all aspects of the operating budget, both day to day and long term
  • Review and run all commercial contracts and deal making processes from a finance and legal perspective engaging with professional advisors as necessary
  • Review and maintain tax credits working with professional advisors

Legal Responsibilities

  • Own the legal responsibilities of the company including IP, Patents, Key Contracts
  • Maintain legal files and electronic database of all contracts
  • Maintain employee personal files and stock option files
  • Assist founders with other various legal matters

Other Responsibilities

  • Partner with the founders in running the equity compensation and structure of the Company
  • Continue to develop and maintain employee compensation guidelines including base pay and stock option grants
  • Review and approve employee offer letters
  • Maintain capitalization table

Requirements / experience

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent strongly preferred
  • Recent technology or gaming company experience - ideally growth stage
  • Strong analytical experience within a big data environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, including revenue recognition, tax and equity accounting
  • Experience with tax credits or VGTR a bonus
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient with systems including analytics systems, accounting systems and related system preferable
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, initiative, and the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-financial leaders
  • Proven leader who can work collaboratively and build strong relationships across the company
  • Strong interpersonal skills an absolute must
