Position Summary: Senior Level Designer

  • Seeking an inspiring, highly motivated Senior Level Designer with a proven track record of delivering highly engaging, high-quality levels in action games.

  • Reports to: Level Design Lead

Responsibilities:

  • Follow project guidelines and use our various ingredients as well as our constraints in order to create spaces and situations that enhance the overall experience and fit the project's thematics.
  • As the end-user of a lot of game’s features, you will take ownership of your own map and act as a vector of proposal and communication with the other departments to achieve coordination and facilitate team working and a good feedback loop.
  • Understand the project’s vision as transmitted by the client and Team Lead, and be able to translate it into your maps and use your creativity to make that vision shine through your contribution.
  • Own the design and quality of your levels and ensure that your peers understand and follow a unified vision.
  • Collaborate closely with the game design and level art team to push your levels forward with the available tools, and share your progress and knowledge among team members.
  • Document your level in order to convey your intentions to the whole team, and act as a point of contact for other departments.
  • Quick to make required modifications and act on said feedback, with the help and guidance of lead.
  • Share your knowledge and mentor less experienced level designers.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Level Design position.
  • Experience having shipped at least 1 First-Person Shooter or Action game.
  • Good knowledge of Unreal 4, level editors and scripting tools.
  • Extensive experience with the level design fundamentals, constraints, and narrative.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a cross-discipline development environment.
  • A capacity for autonomy and proactivity.
  • Organization skills and ability to document and report on progress,ideas, tasks.
  • Fast prototyping skills focused on conveying clear intentions and creative, focused setups.
  • Good communication skills in English.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Modeling experience a plus (Blender, Sketchup, etc)
  • A good understanding of modularity in games
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • A positive, collaborative team-centric mentality
