Position Summary: Lead Tools Engineer

  • As a Lead Tools Engineer you will help define technological initiatives and and participate in their architecture, planning, development, and review
  • Build, mentor, and lead a Tools engineering team
  • Must have created one or more tools for PC, or console development
  • Must have demonstrable experience improving team efficiency and productivity through tools
  • Educate the company on how making powerful tools is how to win in the marketplace
  • Full-time, 100% remote (from anywhere in the world)
  • Participate in hands-on software engineering work, and mentor junior engineers

Responsibilities:

  • Inspire the tools team to create amazing tools that are efficient, secure and reliable
  • Own and manage game editing, data pipeline, automation systems and tools
  • Design recommendations and solutions for existing architecture to improve performance, security, and reliability
  • Work with the team to develop native tools, build pipelines, and online tools for multiple platforms/games/consoles
  • Interface with multiple departments to gather requirements, observe workflows, and improve the process of making games that players love
  • Facilitate collaborative development efforts across all aspects of the software lifecycle
  • Contribute to the company standards for coding, reviews and documentation
  • Support both national and international production teams to manage feature breakdown, estimates, technical risks and mitigation
  • Improve the process of making games that players love

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of experience developing tools
  • 3+ years of leadership experience and launching games
  • 1+ shipped AAA game
  • Strong programming skills in multiple languages
  • Experience optimizing and extending a content build pipeline
  • Familiarity with digital content creation tools (Maya, Houdini, etc.)
  • Strong programming skills in multiple languages
  • Mastery of UI/UX practices for software developers and tool users
  • Well-versed in PC and Console game development techniques and best practices
  • Can work independently with a team that is spread across multiple time zones
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation from the beginning of a project through completion
  • Dedication, teamwork and professionalism
  • Great interpersonal skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Created multiple tools for multiple game titles
  • 7+ years experience in the games industry
  • Experience writing technical documentation
  • Familiarity with current and next console SDKs, Steam, Epic Game Store,
  • Familiarity with common game industry tools & middleware
  • Expertise in UI/UX, UI Frameworks, Mathematics, or Graphics a plus
  • Full Stack Engineering experience a plus
