Tic Toc Games is looking for an artist who is passionate about hand-drawn and dynamic 2D visual effects to help us make better games by elevating the bar for VFX in Unity.
The right candidate:
- Loves games. Dedicates themselves to creating “wow” moments in order to create magical experiences.
- Has a critical eye and is able to draft notes clearly.
- Communicates well, has a positive attitude, and can adjust to tackle challenges as needed.
- Has basic experience with Unity, specifically its Particle System Editor.
- Has experience animating using a Timeline and Graph Editor features.
- Has deep knowledge and understanding of animation fundamentals, including the 12 principles.
- Is able to work across multiple styles of visual effects.
- Is able to work in an Agile work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Keep VFX current by documenting competitive product, leveraging learnings to use in our titles, and anticipate new ways for players to experience games through VFX.
- Help the game and art directors establish different VFX styles for multiple games.
- Create audience-appealing, innovative and crisp 2D VFX within Unity.
- Work with Art Director, Programmers, and Tech Artists to establish an efficient pipeline from mock to implementation to final polish.
- Work with Tech Artists and Programmers to ensure VFX are accurately and consistently represented in the game.
- Work with Tech Artists to ensure VFX are optimized for mobile gameplay without compromising style and quality.
- Train junior VFX artists to raise the quality bar for VFX throughout the entire studio.
Requirements:
- Passion for games, including Free-to-Play.
- Artistic skills: sketching, storyboarding and keyframing abilities on paper and screen.
- 3+ years practical art/animation experience working in animation or interactive media.
- Shipped multiple high quality products as a VFX artist.
- Able to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with all development disciplines: programming, art, design, and production.
- Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative to make the VFX better for our games.
- Expert knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Working knowledge of After Effects.
- Working knowledge of Unity and Particle System Editor.
- Experience animating using a Timeline and Graph Editor.
- Ability to produce high quality work quickly.
- Looking forward to working and learning agile development.

- Developed your own games for fun.
- 2D art skills and basic draftsmanship.
- Spine animation.
- 3D animation (such as 3DS Max or Maya).
