Third Kind Games, or TKG as we call it, is a growing, independent game developer based in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, the heart of the UK games industry.

The founders of TKG have extensive experience in the development of critically acclaimed titles such as Guitar Hero Live and DiRT. TKG was founded in 2016 in response to an industry which needed a fresh, agile approach to games development. In fact, our Founders built their careers at studios with Activision, Codemasters, Sony, Crytek and more.

TKG focuses on emerging technologies and greenfield projects, supported by a dynamic and creative team who are able to explore new ground in this ever-changing landscape.

Our latest title in development is Blankos Block Party, a collectables game using block-chain technology, where the player can build their own worlds, create their own MMO gameplay, and blend their Blankos to create totally unique new characters.

We are always expanding and we are looking for others to join us as Third Kinders.

As a Technical Artist, you will have the ability to work with clients, artists and programmers to create innovative and inspiring gaming visuals that set new benchmarks.

ROLE OVERVIEW

  • Work with our team of programmers and artists to support the implementation of fresh and innovative visuals for our games
  • Several years of experience in graphics and rendering with excellent communications skills
  • Monitor and manage the project pipelines to ensure budgets and requirements are met
  • Have the motivation and passion to keep up to date with industry developments and bring efficiencies and increased quality, whilst growing your skillset

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Manage Art pipelines and workflows
  • Experience with shader creation and optimisation
  • Assist with game optimisation and framerates
  • Create scripts and tools in Maya or other to help artists (Python, Mel etc.)
  • Help bridge Art and Code departments with tools and workflows
  • Experience in Unity/ Unreal
  • Will have knowledge and experience in using Particle Effects editors to create PFX
  • Will have experience in Rigging
  • Drive and own the documentation to ensure best practices in art creation and work with the team to ensure standards and processes are reviewed to drive efficiencies
  • You will be a team player, but also work autonomously, whilst knowing when to ask for advice from your colleagues
  • The ability to contribute to Scrum meetings and help drive the artistic development of the project and the team

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Several years experience as a Technical Artist working on gaming titles
  • 2 years plus experience of industry-standard software packages such as Maya, 3DSMax, Photoshop, Unity. Unreal engine.
  • Passionate about making games visuals and supporting our approach to emerging technologies and industry developments
  • Ambitious and motivated

  • Experience in Substance Designer

LOCATION

Royal Leamington Spa is a well known hub for game development in the UK. It has become known as Silicon Spa for its booming population of game developers and businesses, and it has a rich history in game development dating back over 30 years. It is a beautiful spa town with great shopping, dining, and recreational spaces, situated close to Warwick, Shakespeare’s Stratford, and the Cotswolds.

The company has recently moved to a charming new office located directly in the centre of Royal Leamington Spa, just a 1 minute walk from the shops and cafes.
