Software Engineer

The Software Engineer is part of an agile team responsible for streamlining and automating Play! Pokémon operations which include development in web technologies and services, mobile applications, localization, and logistics. This program is a key line of business and promotes the organized play of Pokémon’s Trading Card Game and Video Game offerings. This role works with members inside and outside the technology organization to ensure new features are delivered with the high-quality Pokémon customers expect.

What You Will Do

  • Drive the design and implementation of new features with a focus on highly scalable and secure services.
  • Translate business requirements into engineering tasks which can be estimated and completed in an Agile software system.
  • Demonstrate strong customer obsession and security in all aspects of development lifecycle.
  • Work with multi-discipline teams, including non-technical stakeholders, to solve complex problems.
  • Document and communicate designs and interfaces with other team members.
  • Write clean, testable, maintainable, and documented code with high throughput and quality.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent working experience.
  • 4+ years of experience building and maintaining API-driven microservices used in multi-tiered, scalable web platforms.
  • Experience with AWS services, containerization and unit test frameworks.
  • Experience in Python (Django framework preferred), and PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration practices, Agile Methodology and Test-Driven Development.
  • Experience with ReactJS.
  • Internationalization and localization experience are preferred.
