The Director of Online Services is responsible for the people management and technical oversight of The Pokémon Company International’s (TPCi) Online Services team, which includes innovating and maintaining platforms and services including the Pokémon Trainer Club, Pokemon.com, and Play! Pokémon. This also includes our Content Management System (CMS), marketing sites for new products, compliance with global data protection regulations, and much more.

This role will focus heavily on the professional growth of the members of the Online Services team by guiding employees through their career paths to help them reach their professional goals at TPCi. The Director of Online Services will use their wealth of experience and industry best practices to foster an environment where professional growth is encouraged for both managers and individual contributors.

What You Will Do

  • Lead several teams of software engineers developing highly available software and services at scale.
  • Work with cross-functional teams throughout the Technology organization to deliver solutions for our customers, product teams, and partners.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain staff while building a culture of collaboration, data-driven decisions, and continuous learning.
  • Create personalized development plans along with the members of your team to enable them to build new skills and advance their careers.
  • Build relationships with your peer teams to ensure alignment on priorities and effective collaboration on projects.

What You Will Bring

  • 10+ years of individual contributor or lead technical experience.
  • 5+ years of team/people management experience; experience as a manager of managers is a plus.
  • Experience with complex, high-performance, highly-available distributed systems.
  • Experience building consumer-facing systems; entertainment/video game industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience with a wide range of AWS technologies.

What To Expect

We offer a professional, fun and creative work environment. While we maintain a good balance between work and life, additional hours may be required at peak times or for specific initiatives. Travel between office locations internationally may be required on occasion (less than 10%).

The Pokémon Company International, a subsidiary of The Pokémon Company in Japan, manages the property outside of Asia and is responsible for brand management, licensing, marketing, the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the animated TV series, home entertainment, and the official Pokémon website.
