Director of Camps and Youth Programming

Game Gym is a Maryland-based esports training and broadest center. We provide a healthy and holistic approach to esports and gaming to help kids game together, better, and smarter. The Game Gym Director of Camps and Youth Programming will oversee and drive forward all of Game Gym’s camps operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Consulting with stakeholders to determine camp requirements
  • Hiring Game Gym coaches
  • Training Game Gym coaches
  • Overseeing all Game Gym coaches, camp managers, and other camp staff
  • Scheduling all necessary staffers to support each camp
  • Serving as the “first line” for all customer service inquiries
  • Developing plans for troubleshooting and crisis management
  • Overseeing all real-time crises, discipline, and troubleshooting issues related to campers and/or staff
  • Maintaining a positive team atmosphere that includes campers, families, camp-based and office-based staff, and volunteers
  • Working with IT and Operations on all issues related to camper registration
  • Working with Marketing and Creative on all issues related to increasing camp participation
  • Working with the senior team to identify potential new camp venues, both in the DC metro area and in other target cities
  • Assisting in the development of camp curriculum with level-appropriate education and recreational activities, in addition to supervised gaming
  • Developing all support materials, such as camper workbooks and camper “care packages.”
  • Planning daily camp activities and creating activity schedules
  • Ordering all camp equipment and supplies
  • Modifying activities for campers with special needs
  • Work with all partner venues to ensure safe practices and a healthy camp environment
  • Keeping records and documenting processes

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field
  • Demonstrable experience as a camp director managing similarly structured camps
  • Extensive experience in planning and developing camp curricula, as well as modifying activities when required
  • Advanced ability to hire, train, and oversee camp employees, as well as ensuring the campers' wellbeing
  • Extensive experience in working with children, as well as arranging camp accommodations meals, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to manage budgets and monitor expenses
  • Knowledge of activity-related safety regulations, as well as health and sanitation requirements
  • Ability to document processes and perform recordkeeping
