The Coalition is a Microsoft 1st party development studio located in downtown Vancouver, Canada. We are the official home of the Gears of War franchise and our objective is to forge the future of the IP and push the limits of Microsoft’s entertainment platforms and devices. The External Development Manager is accountable for creating and maintaining successful external development partnerships for our internal projects. They will work with all the content leads and producers at The Coalition to ensure scope and capacity is managed to budget. The External Development Manager will also be the primary point of contact for external partners located worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Work with TC’s Leads to ensure that new partners are selected according to our due diligence framework and conducting smooth onboarding and offboarding of our integrated pipelines.
- Maintaining strong external relationships with new and established partners and ensuring that they consistently hit our quality expectations.
- Ensuring that our external headcount meets the requirements to fit the scope and budget of our internal projects.
- Ensuring that our external engagements are contractually compliant and that partner accounts are maintained according to their active contract.
- Direct line management of internal outsourcing artists.
Qualifications
- Must be able to monitor and escalate risk regarding external engagements from a neutral and inclusive perspective.
- Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) across all levels.
- Proven experience managing a team of artists both externally and internally.
- Has shipped at least one AAA title.
- Production experience with a variety of project management methodologies and tools.
- Resourceful and thoughtful in problem solving issues.
- Enthusiasm for working with a diverse selection of worldwide partners - travel and working with different time zones will be necessary.
- 5+ years’ experience in game development.
- Background in art content creation is a plus.
