We are currently recruiting a Senior Game Designer to help us design, build and deliver the next generation of Team17 games.

As a Senior Designer, you will be responsible For:

  • Delivering a range of high quality design work, including but not limited to feature design, systems design and content design
  • Setting out the vision for the game through various means, including but not limited to creating documentation and working with the art team to create visualisations
  • Performing research and understanding the current state of the games market
  • Planning, scoping, breaking down and costing projects
  • Providing direction for the game’s content
  • Coming up with new ideas for both new and existing IP
  • Assessing ideas and providing clear actionable feedback to other team members
  • Being an excellent communicator, working as part of a multidiscipline team, leading by example and mentoring other design team members
  • Prioritising and delegate throughout development to ensure the timely delivery of the game
  • Upholding the overall quality of the game, primarily as it relates to the game design elements of the title

Requirements

A Senior Game Designer must take a proactive role in setting out the vision for a game, and take a leading role in delivering that vision as part of a multidiscipline development team. At Team17 a Senior Game Designer will often lead the design on various small to medium sized projects. They must be excellent communicators, be highly organised and able to plan, and be interested in the current state of game design and game development processes. They should be highly creative, being able to come up with concepts for new titles and be able to communicate their ideas to their colleagues. As a Senior member of the design team they will need to lead by example, problem solve, give clear feedback and pass their experience on to more junior members of the team.

  • Strong concept ideation skills
  • Excellent communication, with the ability to write clearly and present verbally
  • The ability to communicate a vision, such as being able to deliver a pitch
  • Develop gameplay mechanics through an iterative process
  • Good interpersonal skills - the ability to work with people and accept feedback and criticism throughout development
  • Good prioritisation and time management skills; being able to work to deadlines but remaining committed to delivering a high level of quality
  • Strong practical knowledge of current game development practices and tools – including but not limited to game engines (for example Unity or Unreal), Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office
  • Some experience of development using C#, blueprint and/or equivalent scripting languages
