The culture is vibrant and focused, the studio and the slate are growing (180 persons in Wakefield) and there is a pride born of success. A Programming Manager is needed to oversee projects at the internal studio and from partners signed to the Games Label – a co-development model between Wakefield and independent studios is proving highly productive.

The Programming Manager will assess risk, oversee planning, trouble-shoot, share insights and juggle resources to align development with game and company objectives.

You will be responsible for:

  • Planning ahead to ensure project and team risks are identified and appropiate actions are taken.
  • Reviewing project schedules and technical plans and ensuring that we have appropriate expertise in the department to cover required delivery.
  • Supporting teams with technical knowledge and experience to provide the very best game experience.
  • Ensuring – with Production – timely delivery of projects.
  • Assessing services from suppliers and middleware providers.
  • Planning the structure of the department, hiring new programmers in Wakefield and mentoring their development within the studio.

You will bring:

  • An ability to communicate cross-discipline on technical subjects and so be understood by all stakeholders
  • Advanced knowledge/experience of developing games with Unreal or Unity
  • Advanced C++ knowledge including games architecture and optimization experience
  • An appetite for the challenges of distributed game development.
  • Experience of making successful hires.

Even more cool if you also bring:

  • Ability to prototype and introduce new technical solutions
  • Advanced knowledge of one or more programming specialisms – Systems, AI, Rendering, Networking, UI.
  • Experience developing games on console platforms – Xbox One, PS4, Switch
