We are currently looking for a junior artist to join our growing art department at team17. This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring artist to take their first steps into the games industry and work on a wealth of different art styles with projects such as Overcooked, Worms Rumble and The Escapists. Our junior artists are expected to create 3D/2D artwork and have basic knowledge of games development. They must have a can-do attitude and be eager to learn new skills and techniques to achieve the results required from them on their assigned project. They will be expected to work closely with other team members ensuring ideas are professionally presented and realised in-game.

You will be responsible For:

  • Work with your lead artist to get fully behind the artistic vision of the project.
  • Work with the artists on your project, ensuring a consistent art style and quality level is maintained across the game.
  • Translate concept and reference artwork into high quality game art. Ensuring that assets meet the visual standards yet respect the games design.
  • Follow art pipelines, workflows, and performance budgets to achieve the projects desired visuals with minimal feedback.
  • Create and/or modify in-game 2D/3D assets within a given timeframe.
  • Verify the quality of objects in game and make improvements where necessary to fit technical constraints and artistic direction.

Key Skills:

  • Able to work effectively with different art styles and pipelines.
  • Knowledge of implementing art in Unity, Unreal or similar engines.
  • Strong skills in art software packages such as Maya, Substance and Photoshop.
  • An understanding of art fundamentals and design (including shape, form, composition, dynamics, colour, and depth theories)
  • Knowledge of real-time modelling techniques (shaders, PBR, normal, displacement etc.)
  • A passion for video games, art, and a commitment to personal development.
  • Good communication skills and a teamwork-oriented attitude.
  • Positive and outgoing personality with a can-do mindset and be able to adapt based on feedback.
  • Good organization and time management skills.
