The Challenge

Reporting into Director, International Employment, the successful International Employment Counsel will play a key role in maintaining and implementing employment practices, policies and procedures whilst also building strong relationships and supporting internal teams by providing legal advice and counsel.

What You’ll Take On

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to HR and other internal lawyers, both within and outside the US, regarding the full range of contentious and noncontentious employment and employee benefit issues in the UK, EMEA and APAC, supervising outside counsel where appropriate.
  • Maintain and implement employment practices, policies, and procedures applicable in the UK, EMEA and APAC.
  • Support HR teams in the UK, EMEA, and APAC on grievance, disciplinary, performance, and dismissal processes
  • Support the Director, International Employment in providing advice to HR and business leaders on international employment law matters
  • Draft and review executive employment agreements, independent contractor, and certain related vendor agreements.
  • Analyze legislative changes on our employment and employee benefit practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Build close relationships with HR and Legal in order to foster a partnering approach.
  • Provide compliance training including anti-harassment and code of business conduct.

What You Bring

  • The ability to work well in a fast-paced, high volume, in-house environment, demonstrating responsiveness, good business judgment, flexibility, and self-confidence.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting HR to measure and manage risk in a changing landscape.
  • The ability to be innovative and provide creative solutions to legal problems.
  • Knowledge of and experience with employee benefit laws is also highly valued, as is knowledge of and experience with employment laws in EMEA and APAC.
  • Preferably, a minimum of 4 years’ experience practicing employment law.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Solid training in private practice and broad-based employment and employee benefit law experience:
  • Managing Employment Tribunal litigation to conclusion, including settlement negotiations, for claims of unfair dismissal, discrimination and whistleblowing;
  • Categorisation of workers, working time legislation, equality and diversity;
  • Excellent drafting skills including engagement contracts, HR policies and procedures;
  • Ability to proactively manage own workload.
  • Willingness to engage and invest in business relationships to continually develop knowledge and understanding of the Company.
  • Experience in house is beneficial, but not essential, as is technology or entertainment industry experience.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Additional languages would be beneficial though not required.
